2017 T-shirts and more.

Starting off the new year with a fresh round of soft goods…….
We wanted to go with a simple classic collection of art that repsresnted my work currently and touched on some of the last ten years of printing shirts with Ryan and Shirts and Destroy. As always all made in the USA and printed by hand by Ryan. Thank you.

The Route to The End

The Art of Thomas Hooper

Today, September 23rd 2016, the Neurosis album Fires Within Fires gets released, if I were to say I am excited, it would be a huge understatement. I wanted to share some of the art that was created during the whole process. Neurosis is a band that has influenced my art since I first discovered them, to have come full circle and create images to accompany their music is very surreal, and has been a huge honor.

Here is the final cover, all hand painted, no photoshop or digital retouching, it is part of a larger piece that is 15 x 30″ – ink, gouache, acrylic and charcoal on paper. Before I show the finished pieces that make up the cover and album packaging I wanted to show a sample of the pieces that were created during the journey to the final art.

I have an exhibition opening his Friday and Saturday that I am very proud to announce.

ECHOES & Tattoo Meditations, Thomas Hooper & Jim MacAirt.
Please Join us for the Preview of our new exhibition on Friday July 8th from 6 – 8pm, at Fleet Gallery, 53 Norman Road, East Sussex, St. Leonards, TN38 0EG
This is the first joint exhibition of Art Work by Thomas Hooper and Jim MacAirt and features new work by these two internationally respected Tattoo Artists. The work shows another side of the arts practice of Thomas and Jim, who both trained as Fine Artists before becoming Tattooists.
Their experience and practice as Fine Artists reflects the range of influences and skills that informs their Tattoo Art. They decided to show their work together at Fleet Gallery to reflect the longstanding creative conversation between them as Artists and friends.

Below is a short press release from Ryan at shirts and destroy about this new direction.

Shirts & Destroy has a new website where the company will house it’s new Limited Edition Artist Merchandise. Consolidating resources with sister company TrueBlack, Shirts & Destroy will continue to release weekly Artist T-shirts and other goods in collaboration with it’s expanding community of true underground genre defining illustrators, Fine Artists, Tattooers and musicians. The previous website will remain fully functional as existing stock is migrated over to the new online store.
The first release on TrueBlackUSA.com <http://trueblackusa.com> is with long time collaborator and friend Thomas Hooper. This collection of merchandise will only be available for purchase for two weeks until February 18th.
Shirts & Destroy is committed to producing all merchandise moving forward on ethically sourced textiles that are MADE IN THE UNITED STATES.
We can no longer ignore the inhumane working conditions, environmental impact and social irresponsibility of T-shirt manufacturing in China, Mexico, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India and other areas of the so called “third world”. Your support allows us to offer an alternative to these practices while contributing to a community of artists who rely on your participation. Thank you for being a part of SHIRTS AND DESTROY!!!
